DAYA by Daniel Landerman
This is Daniel Daya Landerman’s first collection of sketches and artworks. Aside from his work on key art for Jurassic World, Justice League, Avengers: Endgame, Borderlands 3, Joker, and more, Daniel is known to his audience as an avid sketcher with a great eye for beauty and anatomy.
Daniel Landerman has a love of storytelling in many forms. We could say this started at a young age, but for any serious consideration, it started in animation school: DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond (WA), where he got his AA in computer animation and discovered concept art along the way. After a brief respite from non-stop schooling, he decided to go for it yet again! He attended and graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena (CA) where he got his BFA in Entertainment Art and Painting.

It was an absolute pleasure to work on this book with Daniel. Especially because of the many artworks, I was able to choose from. There was just so much art to dive into and once I could make sense of it as a body of work, it was easy to divide it into specific topics and sections. Daniel left me a lot of freedom when it came to the presentation of his art and since I got the chance to include elements of the culture of India, I quickly realized that all this is not complete without a good chunk of gold. This is how the cover came into existence and Daniel was so kind to tweak the motive whenever I annoyed him about little corners that had to be fixed or colors to be adjusted. I wanted a more open material for the book which can be dangerous as they are taking in dirt way easier, but the solution was the slipcase to protect the book. The outcome of all the work is a very big book with so much art in it. I am really happy with the result and am looking forward to more volumes with Daniel’s work.
